It’s all about the chemistry of ooey, gooey polymers that end up looking like long, stringy, stretchy worms. It’s safe, simple chemistry that produces a wide variety of worms that range from completely clear, to colored, to rainbow-colored, to color-changing even. The “Take It Further” and “What Do you Think?” sections go well beyond the basic steps and the result is a series of experiences and activities that go to a whole new level of fun. Worm Eggs anyone?

What Does It Teach?
In simplest terms, this kit is about polymers, modern chemistry, and fun. Making these polymer worms requires lab skills and the kids are given ample materials and opportunities to practice several of them. There’s safely handling chemicals, following directions, writing a hypothesis, and recording data and observations among others. Given all that, there’s still plenty of room for innovation and originality.
