Alka-Seltzer Rockets – How to Fuel a Film Canister Rocket with Carbon Dioxide Bubbles
Film canisters have long been a staple on the science teacher’s list of must have items. I can remember visiting the store where we had our film processed and picking up a grocery bag filled with the containers. All of that changed, however, when the world went digital, and our supply of film canisters dried up. This supply issue was probably a blessing in disguise because the problem forced us to come up with a new version of film canister. In the long run we ended up designing a new container to our exact specs with a lid that really seals well. The end result is a great pop! But we also added markings on the side so that you can easily fill the container ¼, ½, ¾ full in your quest to find the best explosion mixture.
