5 Easy Steps to Run a Summer Camp

If you’re thinking about running a science camp for kids this summer, then you’ll need a curriculum to follow, which is what makes Steve Spangler’s STEM Camp ideal for campers and counselors alike.
This summer camp kit comes with five hands-on experiments that kids can conduct. They’ll learn a variety of skills and scientific principles in a thrilling way.
Here’s what you can expect from the summer camp kits:

1. Find a Location and Set the Date

Get creative. You can host a camp in your backyard, neighborhood park, or even rent a space at your local church or school. Be sure to check with your local government to see what rules and regulations are required for hosting your own camp.

2. Advertise

Use the ad provided send out invitations to attend your summer camp. Be sure to include date, time, location, cost and general information on what they will be doing at your camp.

3. Set a Deadline for your Campers to Sign Up

Give yourself plenty of time to order materials for your camp. Encourage families to sign their camper up immediately to reserve their space. One helpful tip is to offer discounts to those families that sign up by a specific date. If they sign up after, the price goes up $20 – $30 per camper.

4. Order Materials

These kits are in stock and will ship as soon as possible via UPS. Express shipping options are also available.

Note: Each kit from our summer camp curriculum packages is designed for and contains enough material for one scientist. For group activities, be sure to order each young scientist their own kit. This experiment is recommended for ages 5 – 12.

At the start of each day, campers will pull out the summer camp curriculum kit and use the labels provided to write their name on the bag, so they can easily take all the supplies home to show their friends and family.

• Day 1: Amazing Scientist — Campers will engage in colorful activities while diving into basic chemistry principals, demonstrated through stain-free color. Create a lava lamp while experimenting and problem-solving.

• Day 2: Electricity Science Kit — Campers will learn the basics of electricity, including the difference between insulators and conductors. Complete a fun group activity that turns your own body into a conductor of electricity.

• Day 3: Bubblology Science Kit — A favorite for campers of all ages, the Bubblology Kit lets campers blow bubbles that they can touch and bounce without the bubbles popping. The kit also includes instructions on how to make an amazing square bubble.

• Day 4: Water Science Kit — Make a splash with the Water Science Kit and teach campers about polymers and their everyday uses. Campers will make a jar of water defy gravity in an amazing experiment.

• Day 5: Newton’s Antics Science Kit — Round out the week with a physics lesson. Explore the first law of motion and teach campers about friction, inertia and centripetal force.
