Time To Be Amazed!
Comes with 4 Goo Colors Yellow, Blue, Pink and Clear Shape Gel™ (3.4 oz) and Activator Powder! (40 g)
Create Unique Polymers
With this interactive science kit, all you have to do is mix colors and mold your shape. Simply submerge the shape into the activator solution to create a polymer structure. Mix and match to create up to 16 different colors. This is a non-borax and non-glue slime formula that is safe and easy to use and the amazing fluorescent colors won’t stain your hands.
How does it work?
Shape Gel is made through a chemical reaction that creates a new solid substance by combining the two liquids. The scientific name for the Shape Gel goo is sodium alginate, which is full of very long molecules called polymers. The activator solution contains calcium, which links one long polymer chain to another, so the instant these two liquids meet, the crosslinking process begins. The molecules join to create even longer chains of molecules and form a layer on the outside where first contact is made before working its way inward.
When the molecules bond, the long chains form and appear to tighten or harden. This is what changes the Shape Gel as it floats out of the mold. The crosslinking process pulls from the outside in, giving the shape a puffy appearance. As the process continues, it causes the shape changes as it pulls toward its midpoint.
Inspire the Next Generation of Scientists
At Steve Spangler Science, STEM is not just an acronym or a checklist of required subjects. Our STEM products encourage young scientists to seek new and exciting experiences that foster the skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity.
Combining Art and Science
Bring out the creativity and curiosity in your young scientists with the Shape Gel™ Deluxe Set from Steve Spangler Science. Children ages six and older will have a blast and feel they’ve truly achieved something when they complete the four experiments in this fun set. With the three colors and the clear Shape Gel™ goo, they can mix to get other shades for beautiful results. Not only will kids become intrigued about polymers, they’ll also be inspired to create fascinating art. The gel set includes gold glitter, but students will probably want to add other colors, too.

How many licks does it take the get to the center of a tootsie pop? Once you make the activator solution (it stays viable for a couple hours), you can make multiple trays of the rubber balls. Since each ball depression only takes one squeeze of the Shape Gel and each bottle can make hundreds of rubber balls, multiply that by four bottles of shape gel, carry the one, comes out to OODLES (scientific term) of rubber balls.

Question
Marlee Forke –
How long does it take these molds to set one they are filled?
Please don’t tell me to wait for the instructions in the kit. I need this information so I can know if it will work for what I want to do and with the allotted time I have with each group of children. Thank you for your help with this.
