Staff Spotlight on Bryan – AKA Demo Gopher and Higginsworth

Q: Tell us a little about who you are…
A: I am 27 years old and attended the University of New Mexico for Art, but was born and raised in Colorado.  I am very close with my family and wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for their constant support.  Until starting at Steve Spangler Science I worked in non-profit education and program management, which helped me realize my true passion for being involved with children’s education.

Q: What do you do at Steve Spangler Science?
A: I am currently the Administrative Assistant for Steve Spangler Science, Field Producer for The Spangler Effect, On Screen Talent for Product Videos, Experiment Tester for Sick Science!…but most commonly known as Demo Gopher and Higginsworth.
Q: What do you like best about what you do?
A: I love the fast paced, sometimes spur of the moment projects that come up on a daily basis. No matter how much I think I have learned or experienced, there is always something new to keep me on my toes. I couldn’t be more stoked about my job.
Q:  What is your favorite Steve Spangler Science moment?
A: I think the trip to Oklahoma was my favorite moment so far. From Tornados, 150 teachers battling with Geyser Cars to Steve’s Segway failing and the entire experience as a whole. It was just a blast to be a part of.
Q: What is something you wish every SSS customer knew?
A: I wish that every customer understood how much effort and hard work every single person in this company puts in to get a finished product out the door. From discovering new products, getting them in the system, making sure we have the tools needed to produce, taking customer orders, creating copy and activity guides, keeping our website updated, making sure we have the technology to run the website, producing thousands of products a day, and finally shipping them out to people all over the world. I am still amazed every day at how hard each and every person at this company works and wish all of our customers had a chance to experience it.
Q: What is your favorite science experiment?
A: Has to be Boo Bubbles, because who doesn’t love bubbles and dry ice is just awesome. So combining the two is pretty much all I need to be entertained for days.
Q: What do you like to do when not on the job?
A: I love rock climbing and spend pretty much all my free time on the rock.  Anytime not spent climbing or working is spent with my close friends and getting quality time in with my family.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: Life Rocks…Roll with it!
