Explore the Science of Building Polymers by Cross-linking Long Chains of Molecules
Our Amazing Fluorescent Colors Won’t Stain Your Hands
This is slime like you’ve never seen before. No glue, no Borax, no messy mixing — just amazing amounts of fun for all ages. Just mix up the Activator solution and squirt your favorite String Slime™ color into the liquid. The instant the two liquids touch, you get solid String Slime to play around with. Rest assured, the bold, vibrant color is both safe and clean.
Remove the strings from the bowl and you’re ready for action. When you snap the string in half, you reveal its gooey center. To seal it back up, simply dip the ends into the Activator solution and keep the fun going strong.
Learning Science With String Slime
Using Spangler’s String Slime, kids can explore the science of building polymers by cross-linking long chains of molecules. The process of making String Slime is faster and easier than a standard slime recipe and it happens immediately. Groups of children will watch in shock and awe as the mixture morphs into solid strings of colorful slime.
Show Off Safe Chemical Changes for All Ages
Making String Slime is a wonderful activity for all ages. Both String Slime liquid and the Activator powder is safe to use as directed with adult supervision. Use String Slime to introducte chemical changes to young children. In addition, older children can learn more about polymer science through the process of cross-linking long chains of molecules together.

I hold a grandma camp every year this year was science theme. I ordered several items this one was the favorite. The kids were most excited to do any experiments I purchased here.

That is correct. Each one will make approximately 32 batches of slime. The tough part is deciding with color(s)!

Question
Marissa –
Is there a way I can split this up between children. I am trying to plan fun activities at home for my children, for social distancing learning. If I can not split this up, would you recommend another Steve Spangler Science item that I can split up between students.
Thank you,
Marissa

Don Leu –
Is it poisonous if children would happen to put in their mouth?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
ablock –
None of our products are toxic but we do not suggest ingesting the slime. If a child does put the slime in their mouth, we recommend having them drink plenty of water and keeping an eye on them to watch for any adverse reactions. We always encourage adult supervision.

Question
Tammi-Sue Remsburg –
Can you reuse the solution? I will be doing this as a demonstration and would like to be able to make strings in the same solution over a 3 hour span. Is this possible? Or can you add the powder to the water without dumping what is in there?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
ablock –
Absolutely you can! After you do your first demonstration, you can add more powder (and water as needed) to the container you are using instead of setting up a whole new demonstration each time.

I would recommend 3-4 bottles for 100 kids. I would recommend ordering extra Squirt Bottles to make it easier with a large group of kids. We sell a 5 pack of these bottles for $7.99.

Question
DZ –
I see that one order makes 32, but how much is a batch?
Say I want to make one string; (maybe a few inches long), for 1000 people. How many strings in a batch?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Staff Lisa – Customer Service Manager –
Every 32 oz bottle of String Slime will make approximately 160 feet of string slime or “worms”. This means, if you do it just right, you should be able to get approximately 1,920 inches out of each container.

Unfortunately, at this time, we do not offer this option. We will bring it up with our Product Development team to see if this is something we can offer in the future.

Question
Mandi Davis (verified owner) –
I have 3 different classes on different days, will the solution stay good if kept in a glad lock container from day to day or do the chemicals lose effect not long after the solution is mixed?
(0) (1) Watch Unwatch
Staff lisabrooks –
If you are referencing the unused product, the product will last in the bottles provided, as long as it is stored properly. The product needs to be kept at room temperature. The product should not be frozen or stored where it can get hot. You also need to be careful of germs or bacteria getting into the solutions. This can effect the product. If you follow this, the product will last several months, maybe even a year or more.
If you are referencing the finished product (aka the “worms”), keeping them in a zipper-lock back will help them last longer over a couple of days.

Question
Lisa –
How long does it last…meaning when you make it, can you keep for a while?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Staff Lisa – Customer Service Manager –
As long as you store the finished slime batch in a zipper-lock bag and squeeze the extra air out. This will help it last a little longer before they dry and become hard strings of slime.

Question
Patty –
Can the green slime party pump be used to make this with the purchase of the activator solution? I have gallons of the green slime left from our science night. I’d like to do something different with it , other than just make more slime.

Staff lisabrooks –
The String Slime is a completely different chemical reaction. The activator solution for String Slime will not work for Slime Art.

cathy –
i want to do this with 21 kids… i have the small squirt bottles, will one bottle be enough to divide between 21 kids? just to give them enough to make a small strand of the slime
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Staff Lisa – Customer Service Manager –
Each 32 oz bottle of String Slime makes 160 feet of string slime. If you divide this evenly between the 21 squirt bottles, this should be more than enough for the kids to make their own slime creations. Maybe buy one extra bottle just to be safe.
