Atomic Glowing Slime for Kids
The Best Slime On The Market Just Got Better!
A special fluorescent ingredient added to create an eerie glow-in-the-dark!
You won’t believe how irresistible our glowing slime is now! In normal light, our Atomic Slime seems to glow as it is squished and stretched… put the gooey concoction under a black light and it positively shines! Just mix the Slime Activator solution with our specially dyed PVA, turn off the lights and break out the black light. Watch in wonderment as you touch this eerie, oozing slime as it glows in the dark.
How does it work?
Our glow in the dark slime recipe is based on the classic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) formula with sodium tetraborate as the cross-linking agent. Doesn’t that sound impressive? What makes our slime formulation unlike anything else on the market is the addition of our stabilizing agents that help to reduce the growth of bacteria while preserving the stretchy, gooey properties of the glowing slime that everyone loves.
Turn this ever-popular science activity into a real learning experience that is filled with real fun.
All of these science secrets are made even better with the addition of our special coloring agent that glows under a black light. When the energy from the black light “excites” the fluorescent dye, you end up with a brightly glowing, very exciting, ooey, gooey experiment!
Breaking Newton’s Laws With Color
Young students love experimenting around with the cross-linking of polymer chains when they know it will give them the thrill of being a real lawbreaker; Newton’s Law of Viscosity, that is. The brilliant Isaac Newton said that the viscosity, or thickness/stickiness, of a fluid change with its temperature. With Newtonian fluids, it does, but some fluids, like Atomic Slime, are non-Newtonian and so they follow a different set of rules, and their viscosity changes with pressure instead. Young scientists can see how this works with the Atomic Slime kit from Steve Spangler Science. All they need to do is to pour the Atomic Slime into the Slime Activator and then watch as the fun begins. The creepy green stuff they get as a result is the stuff of science fiction movies, and it’s even better when they turn on the Mini Black Light to make it all glow.
For Teachers, Parents, Grandparents, and All-around Science Adults
We haven’t forgotten about the new STEM and STEAM initiatives you’ve been hearing about in our schools, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art), and Math together to make young scientists real thinkers! Look what your young scientists integrated into the Atomic Slime demonstrations.
A “Non-Newtonian Fluid”
Our Atomic Slime Solution is also a great illustration of what scientists call a “Non-Newtonian Fluid” – apply pressure, it forms into a sort of solid and breaks, but if you let it flow like a liquid, it stretches easily.
