It's the conversation piece in the Spangler Labs... people walk in and say, "Holy Fright! Where did you get that?" This lizard starts out 30 cm (12 in) long and grows to an impressive meter (36 in). We're not sure just how big he'll get because he just keeps growing. Of course, you can dry him out and watch him shrink back down over time (just how much time depends on your humid climate). Your kids will go nuts!
The difference between our product and that of our competition is that we include a comprehensive activity guide which provides valuable activities and classroom connections to help demonstrate the scientific principles behind our growing creatures.

How Does It Work?
Just submerse the giant growing lizard in warm water and watch as he grows into a giant creature. The process may take quite a few days, but the results are worth the wait. The lizard can also be taken out of the water and allowed to shrink back to his original size.
- growing lizard Review by Rhonda Beatty-Gallo
These lizards take time to grow and you need space to allow the growth to fully happen. The kids were amazed at the process and final outcome. It was fun for all of us, and especially fun to see it shrink down again. (Posted on 5/8/13)
- Growing Lizards Review by Elizabeth Beckwith
These work great in my science lab. I bought large rubbermaid tubs for them and the grew huge! We measured and outlined them daily. The children were fascinated. Last summer we did an experiment on which solution grew the biggest lizard...from filtered water, tap water, carbinated water, and rain barrel water. You will have to buy these and try it to know the answer! (Posted on 4/8/13)

Love how you've combined science with a magical toy. (Posted on 3/11/13)

I have used this product in my classroom for the last two years. The kids love it and it is a great way to teach them about measurement. (Posted on 2/3/13)

- Why did it fall apart?
If your water is too hot, it will cause the creatures to disintegrate. While warm water works best, make sure that it isn't too hot.
- Why does it have a hole in its belly?
The hole is to let water into the creature, since it is hollow, and allows all sides of the polymer to grow evenly.
- How long will it last?
As long as the creatures are handled carefully, they will last for a long time. Since you are able to take it out of the water and have it evaporate, you will be able to regrow it numerous times.
- Why is it “leaking” polymer?
The skin is packed so tight that some excess tends to leak off.
- How long does it take to grow to its full size?
About a week and a half to two weeks. It makes the perfect activity to measure every day to see how much it has grown over one day.
- Is it reusable?
Absolutely. Take the creature out of the water and, depending on how humid your climate is, it should take about 3 weeks to a month to shrink to its original size.
