Two clear liquids are mixed together and the audience is told to watch closely... "Don't take your eyes off the liquid or you'll miss it!" Then, in a flash, the clear water changes to ink (or so they think!). Think Ink! illustrates the amazing chemistry behind the classic clock reaction where molecules meet up and change over time to create this startling reaction. Unlike the classic iodine clock reaction from your high school chemistry class, our new Think Ink! formula uses a kitchen chemistry approach to achieve even better results. And yes... this is the same reaction that Steve Spangler shares in his live performances and recently featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
This kit includes enough materials to do the Think Ink demonstration 30 times!
- 2 Mega Test Tubes and Rack
- Timing Mixture
- Trigger Powder
- Recycling Powder
- Starch Pellets
- 3 White measuring scoops
- 2 Stirring rods
- 1 Pair of safety glasses
What does it teach?
The Think Ink! kit helps teach the following chemical concepts...
- Rate of reaction as a function of temperature
- Rate of reaction as a function of reactant concentration
The Halloween Spirits Liked It!

We used this kit in a halloween magic show and it worked perfectly. It takes a little practice to get the timing right. Experiment with different amounts of starch and different temperatures of the water. In the end, it did exactly what we needed.

It works every time. I have used this for the past couple of years. It works every time and for every group that comes through my station at our annual Science Day. It simply works just like it is supposed o . . . and it never fails to amaze!!!

Bought this back in December to practice with and have the kinks worked out (just in case) before I needed it in April. Well, it's April and I'm barely practicing with it today. The kit had been lying on my shelf since December and the trigger and timing powders were clumped together in the position they had been lying in all those months, but a bit of shaking and they were powders again!
Not so good

I love the concept of this idea but the shelf life is awful. The first time I tried it, it worked. The second time, we tried all sorts of ways but it didn't work again. I told the Spangler staff about it and they sent out another one. I didn't open it right away. Weeks later I did and tried it with my grand children. The powders were all stuck together and the experiement did not work. I am very disappointed in this product.

We've used this in Children's Church several times and it never gets old. It was soooo worth the money!
