Jelly Marbles - Clear Spheres Kit
Small beads that absorb 300 times their weight in water - Amazing!
Usually ships out the next day.
Recommend for 6 years & up with adult supervision.
Place these tiny, solid spheres in water, and in just a little while you will have your own Clear Spheres. These superabsorbent spheres are the newest craze around the Spangler Science offices! What starts out as a 3mm pebble, quickly becomes an approximately 20mm ball of jelly! Similar to our Water Jelly Crystals, these spheres absorb a lot of water, plus they maintain their spherical shape when they are done growing. Want colored Clear Spheres? Just add our True Colors Color Mixing tablets to the water and you’ll have your own colored Clear Spheres. We’ll even provide one of our popular Mini-mixing Trays to perform amazing feats of color mixing with our Splash of Color experiment! Not only are these super absorbent spheres fun, they teach a valuable lesson about the power of polymers. In fact, Clear Spheres are an example of amazing Hydrogels... superabsorbent polymers that are saving the environment. Recommended for children ages 6 and up.
What's included?
- 1 25 gram pouch of Clear Spheres
- 9 Kid instruction cards
- 1 Mini-mixing tray
- 3 Pipettes
- 1 Packet of True Colors coloring tablets
- 4 270 mL (9 oz.) plastic cups
- 1 Petri dish
- 1 White measuring scoop
- 1 Baby Soda Bottle with cap
What does it teach?
Like all of our fun and fascinating polymer, or Hydrogel, products, these tiny spheres, teach a big lesson in color, light, and the importance these thirsty pebbles can play in maintaining a healthy environment. The possibilities for experimentation are endless when you drop these spheres in water. Put them in one of our Baby Soda Bottles and they grow to the shape of the test tube. Try drying them out to see how quickly evaporation can take over… and then use them again and again. Plus, you can only imagine the fun to be at the Spangler Science offices when Halloween rolls around... imagine the surprise when unsuspecting trick-or-treaters place their hands into a bowl of ooey, gooey, “eyeballs!”Product FAQ

Super fun kit!
Jennifer - December 11, 2011
I spent all day today with my 3 year old (who is very difficult to keep entertained) playing with jelly marbles. She loved mixing the colors in the tray and watching them slowly grow (we checked on them every hour). You get TONS of little marbles in the 25 gram bag. I feel like we hardly used any even though we played with about 50 marbles. The included activity ideas are enough to keep kids engaged for many many days. Thanks for such a wonderful learning experience! |

These Jelly Marbles are very impressive.
Lisa Paoletti - May 25, 2011
My 9 year old used this Jelly Marble Kit for her 3rd Grade Science Project. She had to give an oral presentation; her classmates and teacher were very impressed by her presentation. The price is inexpensive & this product is well worth it. |

Several members of my family-old and young alike have been watching the progress of the jelly marbles. Everyone was fascinated and when they were finished growing it was fun to feel them and watch them bounce. |

Lots of fun
Sam - November 9, 2010
My eight year olds love this kit. The jelly marbles are so cool. We put some in clear water and asked unsuspecting friends to put their hands in the water. They were surprised to find it filled with jelly marbles, which feel cool. We now are in the process of watching them get smaller out of the water. (A very long kitchen counter experiment). We tried the jelly marbles in colored water too as well as with Glow. The color fizzies are fun to watch dissolve in water and color it. |

I love these jelly marbles!
Kelly Lavoie - October 21, 2010
I used these as "ghosts eyeballs" in a spooky science show and the kids LOVED them. I also love that that are biodegradable and can be used over and over. Adults love them too! |

These are amazing!
Jane Roscoe - June 14, 2010
I used these for a Sunday School lesson (to show how God helps us to see things more clearly), during a worship service (as magnifying lenses), and I plan to use these for Vacation Bible School (as eyeballs for an Egyptian canopic jar). Everyone, young and old, is amazed at these wondrous spheres that feel and look so interesting. This is a great product that can be used very creatively! |

Happy Jelly Marbles
Tamara Lewis Steamboat Springs - October 23, 2009
My daughter wanted the jelly marbles and chose to get them with her own allowance money, what a great purchase. You get everything for the money and wonderful learning activities meant for teachers, but just as good and even better for parents! Thanks! |
