Experiment with the powerful properties of air as you squish marshmallows with air pressure all day long. Your students will be amazed that a huge marshmallow can end up looking like an after dinner mint! Campouts with toasted globs of spun sugar will never be the same. Recommended for children ages 6 and up.
What's included?
- 473 mL (16 oz.) bottle
- Pressurizing pump (Fizz-Keeper®)
- Large plastic test tube
- Activity guide
How does it work?
Put some marshmallows in your bottle and attach the pressurizing pump. Then pump air into the bottle. As the pressure inside the bottle increases, there will be more pressure outside the marshmallows than inside. The marshmallows begin to shrink and look wrinkled because the air molecules inside them are pushed closer together by the difference in pressure. When you take the top off the bottle, they return to full size! Use the large plastic test tube to experiment with pumping smaller quantities of marshmallows. What does it teach?
Learn about the properties of air and discover some facts about air pressure. Experiment with changing the balance of pressure to achieve a certain result. The best thing about this experiment is that when you're finished, you can eat it!Product FAQ
