Subscription FAQ’S

I am having trouble logging into my account

Make sure you are logging into the correct website.  SpanglerScienceClub.com is our Club website.  SteveSpanglerScience.com is our regular retail website.  Confusing, right?  If you happen to be on the SteveSpanglerScience.com website, just click the CLUB tab and it will redirect you.  Once you are on the club site, click Login in the upper right hand corner to access your subscription information.

I want to purchase multiple kits.

There are a couple ways you can do it.  Here is one of the preferred methods:

  1.  Add the subscriptions to your cart.
  2. Once you add the first subscription to your cart and get to the order summary screen, click on the Spangler Science Club icon in the upper left corner.  This will take you back to the home page.
  3. Select the next club box you wish to add to your cart along with the payment method.  You are welcome to mix and match your subscription boxes and payment method.  They do not have to be the same each time.
  4. Follow these steps until you have all the subscriptions in your cart.
  5. Add the shipping address for the first person you wish to send a kit to.
  6. Complete the checkout process.
  7. Once you receive the order confirmation, log back into your account through SpanglerScienceClub.com.  Now it’s time to go change the addresses.
  8. Once you are logged in, click ADD AN ADDRESS under the Shipping Address section.
  9. Add the new address.
  10. Once you have added all the addresses, click EDIT under Your Subscriptions.
  11. Under Choose a New Shipping Address and select the address you wish to use for that subscription.
  12. Follow this step until you have all the subscriptions updated.
  13. Under the section called Your Subscrition(s), you should see each of the subscriptions and can verify the ship to addresses.

** If the kits are all going to one location, you do not need to follow steps 7-13.  All of the subscription boxes will go to the original address provided.

Do you offer larger kits for teachers?

We are in the process of taking some of our popular STEM in a Box kits and creating classroom size boxes. Once these are available, they will be available through our retail site: SteveSpanglerScience.com.

Will any of the experiments repeat?

As long as you stick with one subscription, you will not repeat any experiments.  However, there is a chance of repeating experiments if you bounce between subscriptions.

How many kits will each subscription offer in total?

STEM Lab and STEM Deluxe offer 24 different kits each. You could join one of these clubs for 2 full years and never repeat a single activity. However, if you switch between STEM Lab and STEM Deluxe, there will be duplication. We recommend staying with one subscription.  If you wish to try a kit first to make sure your STEMologist enjoys it, we recommend starting with STEM Starter and then switching to STEM Lab or STEM Deluxe.

STEM Starter only offers 3 months worth of kits.

What’s in the box?

STEM Starter offers the materials and instructions to perform 1 or 2 experiments.

STEM Lab offers the materials and instructions to perform 3 – 5 experiments.

STEM Deluxe offers the materials, child and adult instruction guides to perform 6 – 10 experiments.

What does it mean to sign up for a month-to-month, 3-month, or 12-month subscription?

If you choose a month-to-month subscription, you will receive a kit every month. Your credit card will automatically be billed each month on the rebilling date (15th for STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe or 30th for STEM Lab).

If you choose a 3-month subscription, you will be billed after your 3rd kit is shipped. STEM Deluxe are automatically rebilled on the 15th and STEM Lab is rebilled on the 30th. For example, if you join STEM Deluxe on January 1st, your first kit will ship out around January 5th and you will receive the January, February and March kits. You will automatically be rebilled on March 15th.

If you choose a 12-month subscription, you will receive a full year of kits! Each STEM Deluxe kit will ship once a month around the 5th of each month. STEM Lab will ship once a month around the 20th of each month. You will be charged the full amount up front and will be automatically rebilled for another year after your 12th kit is shipped, unless you log in and cancel your subscription.  Please review our cancellation policy for further details.

What is the recommended age range?

The experiments and hands-on activities in the Spangler Science Club monthly series are intended for children between the ages of 5 – 12 years of age (approximately K – 6) with adult supervision. All of the experiments and design challenges are written in such a way that the science concepts can be adapted to best fit the learning style and developmental appropriateness of each child. Younger child are welcome to participate, but some of the experiments and concepts may be a little too advanced for them without the help of an adult.

How many children can use one box?

Collaboration is a great part of any science experience, and we encourage children to work together as they explore each of the new science concepts. The experiment and activities in the STEM Deluxe are written in such a way that the scientists are encouraged to share their discovers with family and friends. We recommend 1 – 4 kids per STEM Deluxe box; 1 – 2 kids for the STEM Lab and 1 child for the STEM Starter.

When can I start my subscription?

Right now! You can join immediately to start your monthly subscription. To receive the next STEM Starter or STEM Deluxe kit, you will need to join before 4 pm (MST) the 4th of the month. These kits ship on or around the 5th of each month.

If you opt for the STEM Lab kit, these kits ship out around the 20th of each month.  The cut off date for this kit is 4 pm (MST) the the 19th of the month.  The only exception is February since it is a shorter month.  The cut off for the February kit is February 17th.

Please allow 3 – 10 days for domestic and 15 – 30 days for international boxes to arrive.

How much does shipping cost?

The shipping is FREE for the kits shipping within the continuous United States. International shipping is $10 USD per kit and is charged upfront with the subscription fees.

When will I receive my packages?

If you join before the cut off dates, you will be guaranteed the next month’s kit. You will need to join by 4 pm (MST) on the 4th of the month to receive the next STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe kits. These kits ship on or around the 5th of each month.

The STEM Lab kits ship out around the 20th of each month.  The cut off is 4 pm (MST) on the 19th of the month.  The only exception is February since it is a shorter month.  The cut off for the February kit is February 17th.

Please allow 3-10 days for domestic and 15 – 30 days for international boxes to arrive.

What is the cancellation policy?

For STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe, you will need to cancel by the 13th of your rebilling period. If you are a 3-monther, for example, you will need to cancel by this deadline after your 3rd kit has shipped.

For STEM Lab, you will need to cancel before the 27th of your renewal period. If you are a 3-monther, for example, you will need to cancel by this deadline after your 3rd kit is shipped.

You are welcome to cancel anytime. Canceling your subscription will not cancel your current subscription or any kits that you have prepaid. It just cancels your future auto-renewals. We are unable to cancel and refund if you are in the middle of a subscription or have already been renewed. For example, 12-monthers will receive all 12 kits. You cannot cancel midway through and be refunded. Please contact customer service at [email protected] if you have any questions.

It takes 3 simple steps to cancel your subscription:

  1. Log in to your account at https://spanglerscienceclub.cratejoy.com/customer/login
  2. Click EDIT under “Your Subscriptions”
  3. Click “Cancel Subscription” in the lower left hand corner
  4. Click SAVE

Voila! You are done. You will receive an email confirmation that you have successfully cancelled your subscription. Please note, if you cancel AFTER the cut off, we are unable to issue refunds.

If you have any problems canceling, please contact us within 2 business days of your cancellation deadline at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (MST).  If you contact us outside of the 2 business days, we will not be able to guarantee your cancellation.

Do you provide refunds?

We do not provide refunds. Please review the cancellation policy for deadlines to avoid future renewals.

If you cancel a 3-month or 12-month subscription in the middle of a subscription period, we do not issue refunds for unshipped kits. You will receive the remainder of your boxes and then your subscription will stop at the end of your prepaid term.

Do you accept purchase orders?

Currently we do not accept purchase orders for the monthly subscription service. You are welcome to use a purchase order for any of the STEM in a Box kits listed under our retail site, SteveSpanglerScience.com. These are some of our past STEM Deluxe kits that are available for purchase at the non-auto renewing subscription price. Subscription Management

I cancelled, but I am still receiving kits.

Cancelling your subscription does not cancel prepaid kits you already have on your account. It only cancels your future renewals. To check how many kits you have left on your account, please email us at [email protected].

I received a repeat Club kit.

If you have purchased a STEM in a Box kit prior to subscribing, unfortunately we have no way of catching this since the Club kits are run through a completely different database. If you let us know what STEM kits you purchased prior to your STEM Deluxe kits shipping, we will make sure you do not receive any repeat kits.

There will be some repeat experiments between STEM Lab and STEM Deluxe. If you have been a STEM Deluxe customer for several months, we would recommend you do not join the STEM Lab.

My package was returned to you. What now?

Packages are typically returned to us when someone has moved and there is no forwarding information on file with USPS. If this is the case, we are happy to reship your package, but you will need to pay the $8-$10 reshipping fee. We will email you within 5 business days of the package being returned.   You will need to contact our office within 7 business days with your credit card information. If we do not hear from you within this time period, your package will be donated to a local charity.  Refunds will not be provided for returned packages.

I am trying to log in, but I cannot reset my password?

Email us at [email protected] and we will send you an email to reset your password. Once you receive this email, you will have 24 hours to reset the password.

Can I request a specific kit?

You are welcome to purchase any of our past STEM Deluxe kits listed under STEM in a Box on our retail site – SteveSpanglerScience.com. Unfortunately, we do not have a way for you to request a specific kit as part of the Spangler Science Club.

I am a current subscriber and I want to switch to a different club.

If you have been a subscriber to any of our club kits for a month or two, you are welcome to upgrade to the next level.  If you are coming up on your next renewal, here are the steps to upgrade:

  1.  Log in to SpanglerScienceClub.com
  2. Click EDIT under Your Subscription(s)
  3. Choose the subscription you wish to switch to: STEM Starter, STEM Lab, or STEM Deluxe
  4. Choose the New Subscription Term: Month-to-Month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 month
  5. Click CHANGE

On your next renewal you will be charged for the new subscription.  Your new kit will ship out on the appropriate shipping day: STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe ship out around the 5th while STEM Lab ships around the 20th.

If you are in the middle of a subscription or just renewed within the last few days, please email us at [email protected] so we can review your current subscription and see how best we can help you.

I duplicated my subscription.

Email us immediately at [email protected] and we will be happy to cancel and refund the duplicate subscription. If any kits have already shipped or a kit had already been built on the duplicated subscription, we will not be able to refund you for those kits. We will cancel and refund you for any unbuilt and unshipped kits.

If I need to take a break, will I miss some kits if I cancel or skip a renewal?

With STEM Lab and STEM Deluxe, if you skip a renewal or cancel your subscription for a few months, you will miss out on these club kits.  You would have to sign up to receive these kits two years later when they are repeated since we offer a 24 month cycle for both of these subscriptions.

With STEM Starter, if you cancel or skip a renewal, you will repeat the first months kit.  STEM Starter only offers 3 months worth of club boxes.  We recommend starting up with STEM Lab or STEM Deluxe when you wish to resume your subscription.

Can I return my kit and receive a refund?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for the Club.

What is the cancellation policy?

Can I change my credit card on file?

Absolutely. You have full control of your subscription. Just log in to your account, click EDIT under “Credit Card.” Update the information you need to change and be sure to click SAVE.

Can I change my shipping address?

Yes. It’s simple. Log in to your account, click EDIT under “Shipping Address”. This will edit the current address we have on file. Be sure to click SAVE when you are done.

Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to the shipping address once the package is shipped. Address changes for STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe kits will need to be processed before 3 pm (MST) on the 4th. Address changes for STEM Lab kits will need to be processed before 3 pm (MST) on the 19th.

If you have filled out a Change of Address form with USPS and filed it prior to them receiving your club box, the package will be forwarded to your new address at no charge to you. Please update your ship to address, though, so all future packages will go to the correct address.

If your package is returned to us due to an incorrect address or you have moved, you will be required to pay the reshipping costs of $8-$10 per kit, plus any shipping fees we incurred to receive the kit back.

If your kit is delivered to the old address, we will not be able to retrieve the kit.  You will have the option to reach out to USPS or the new home owners, or you can pay for a whole new club box.

How do I receive a copy of my receipt/invoice?

You will receive a copy of your order confirmation as soon as you join. This will act as your receipt or invoice for the club. Can’t find it? No worries. Email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to resend you the notification.

Can I skip a month?

If you joined the month-to-month option for any of the Club kits, yes. Simply log in to your account, click EDIT under “Your Subscriptions” and click “Skip Next Renewal” at the top. You will need to do this before 3 pm (MST) the day before the renewal date in order to skip that renewal. Once renewals are processed, we do not have a way to reverse the renewal.

If you join as a 3-monther or 12-monther, there is not a way to skip one month in the middle of your subscription period. If you follow the steps above to skip your next renewal, it will skip the full renewal period. For example, if you are a 3-month subscriber and skip the renewal, you will not be up for renewal for 3 months.

Gifting FAQ’S

Can I send this as a gift?

Absolutely! When you are in the check out screen, there will be a check box called “This is a gift.” If you select this button, a new section will open up for you to create a gift message.  This message will be included in their first kit.

Want this to be a one-time gift?  Once you have joined, log into your account at SpanglerScienceClub.com.  Click EDIT under “Your Subscription” and cancel your subscription. This will not cancel your currently subscription, but will keep your account from renewing.  You are welcome to cancel immediately or you can wait until the cut off which is 2 days before your renewal date.

What if I would like to send kits to several different addresses?

What if I only want to send one gift and not be auto-renewed?

If you do not wish to sign up for the subscription service, go to SteveSpanglerScience.com and click on STORE.  Then search for STEM in a Box.  These are the only kits we currently offer as one-time, non-subscription kits.

STEM in a Box kits will ship immediately via the method that you choose.  They will not be shipped once a month like the regular subscription kits.  The best part is you can pick the kit(s) you want!  If you purchase $99 or more, you qualify for free Sure Post shipping.

Why are the single kits more expensive ($34.99)?

We offer our club members a discounted price when they join the club.  The single boxes are sold at our non-member prices.

Why do I need to pay shipping?

We offer our club members free shipping when they join the club.  However, if you spend over $99, you will receive free Sure Post shipping within the contiguous United States.

What if I want to send this as a gift, but I do not want it to renew?

Since this is a subscription service, we do not have an option for you not to auto-renew.  You can cancel your subscription before the renewal date, but if you cancel after the renewal, we are unable to cancel and refund your current subscription.  The renewal information is outlined in your welcome emails once you sign up.

You also have the option to purchase single kits from our retail site – SteveSpanglerScience.com.  Click on STORE and search for STEM in a Box.  These are non-subscription kits and will ship within 2 business days of you placing your order.  There is no waiting period for kits to ship like there is with the subscription service.

I am not sure what club to give as a gift.

No worries! You can send them a gift certificate and they can choose the club they want to join.

Sorry, no refunds or cash value for gift certificates. Discounts are also not valid on git certificates.  Contact us at [email protected] if you misplace your gift certificate.

Referral Program

How does your referral program work?

Refer as many friends as you would like.  If 3 of your friends join the club, you will receive a $20 credit towards your next renewal.

To refer your friends, simply log in to your account.  Click on the green button “Refer More Friends”.  Enter in their information and click on the green button “Send Invites To Your Friends”.  That’s it!

How do I refer friends?

Simply log in to your account.  Click on the green button “Refer More Friends”.  Enter in their information and click on the green button “Send Invites To Your Friends”.  That’s it!  If 5 of your referrals sign up for the club, you’ll earn a $20 credit towards your next renewal.  It’s that simple.

How do I track my referrals?

Simply log in to your account.  At the top of the page, you will see “”Refer-a-friend” Progress Tracker” which will show you how many of your referred friends have signed up for the club.

You will also receive an email letting you know your progress toward the referral goal.

International

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship to over 50 countries. Scroll down to the bottom of the website and click on “International Countries” under the picture of the Club boxes. You will see an entire list of countries we currently ship to. Don’t see your country? Email us at [email protected] and we will see about adding your country.

The shipping costs is $10 USD per kit and is charged up front along with the subscription fees. Please allow up to 7-8 weeks for your first kit to arrive. All subsequent packages will arrive within 15 – 30 business days. Please contact us at [email protected] if your order has not arrived within this time period and we will start an investigation with the carrier. The Spangler Science Club will not be responsible for undeliverable kits due to incorrect shipping addresses.

In what currency will my subscription be charged?

Your credit card will be charged in U.S. dollars.  Please note, if the amount you see on your credit card does not match our website, it is most likely due to your credit card companies exchange rates.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected]

How much is international shipping?

There is a $10 USD shipping costs added per kit to your subscription costs. This amount is due up front and is the same costs of shipping for any of the 3 kits: STEM Starter, STEM Lab, or STEM Lab Deluxe.

International packages are shipped via UPS Mail Innovations.  UPS will pick up your package and provide tracking during the duration they have your package.  Once they turn the package over to your local mail carrier, you may lose visibility of your package.  Not all service offer a carry-over of the tracking details from UPS’s system to their system and vice versa.

How long will it take for my package to arrive?

STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe ship out around the 5th of each month.  STEM Lab ships out around the 20th of each month.  The packages will be delivered by your local mail service within 15 – 30 days of the shipping dates. You may receive tracking information, but some countries might loose tracking visibility once it arrives within your country.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

When will I be billed if I sign up for a month-to-month subscription?

When you sign up, your credit card will be charged immediately.  Your rebilling date will be determined by the subscription you choose:

STEM Starter:   Ships around the 5th and gets rebilled on the 15th of the month

STEM Lab:    Ships around the 20the and gets rebilled on the 30th of the month (or February 27th)

STEM Deluxe:  Ships around the 5th and gets rebilled on the 15th of the month

If you opt for 3 month, 6 month or 12 month, you will be renewed on these dates after your 3rd, 6th, or 12th kit ships. A renewal reminder will be sent 8 days in advance.

Shipping

Where’s my package?

STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe ship on or around the 5th of each month. STEM Lab ships on or around the 20th of the month. If you joined before 4 pm (MST) the day before these ship dates, you should expect to receive your kit within 3-10 business days (domestic) and 15 – 30 business days (internationally). Once your package leaves our warehouse, you will receive an email with the tracking information.

Please allow a few days for USPS to recognize this tracking information. You can also use this tracking number at UPS.com to track the package since USPS and UPS share the responsibility of delivery your package. See “How do you ship the kits” for more detailed information.

If the package shows delivered and you can’t find it, please check your property and with family or neighbors. Often, the carrier will leave the package in a hidden spot to keep the package safe or someone else will receive the package and forget to pass it along. If you have done all of this and the package is still missing, please contact us at [email protected] and we will start an investigation with USPS.

Missing packages must be reported within 30 days of the ship date for US residents and 45 days for international customers. We are unable to replace packages that are beyond these dates.

How do you ship the kits?

Domestic kits are shipped via Sure Post. With Sure Post, UPS picks up the package and delivers them to a USPS sorting facility. Then, USPS will deliver the final package. Please provide your USPS friendly shipping address. We are not responsible for lost or returned packages if we are given an incorrect address. Shipments can take up to 3-10 business days to arrive.

All non-continental US bound addresses including Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands ship via standard USPS and can take up to 12 business days to arrive. A tracking number will be assigned.

Returned packages will be charged a reshipping fee of $8-$10 per box, plus any return shipping fees that we incurred.

When will my kit ship?

STEM Starter and STEM Deluxe ship around the 5th of every month. You will receive your kit around the middle of the month. We use SurePost as our primary shipping provider. UPS picks up the package and USPS makes the final delivery. You can always track your package at UPS.com.  USPS will not show updates on the package until they receive the package from UPS.

In order to receive this month’s Starter or Deluxe kit, please subscribe before 4 pm (MST) on the 4th. For example, if you sign up before this time on May 4th, you will receive your first kit around the middle of May. If you sign up after the cut-off on the 4th, you will receive your first kit the following month. For example, if you order on May 5th, your first kit will ship out around June 5th.

STEM Lab ships around the 20th of each month. You will need to order before 4 pm (MST) on the 19th to receive your first STEM Lab kit early the following month.

How can I track my package?

Once we ship your order, you will receive an email with your tracking number. Since UPS and USPS share the responsibility to deliver your package, you can track your package the entire way via UPS.com. USPS will not recognize the tracking number until the package is turned over to them.

Do you ship to P.O. Boxes, FPO, DPO & APO addresses?

Shipments going to APO/FPO/DPO will be shipped via USPS Parcel Post and may require additional delivery times.  For express shipping options, please contact Support@SpanglerScienceClub.com or call us at 800-223-9080.  Please note, there will be no updates to your tracking information until it is received by your local post office. The transit time is out of our control, but we will do everything in our power to expedite the package.
