Steve Spangler joined Kathy Sabine this morning for an eruption of clouds and fun. Steve brought a huge container of liquid nitrogen to the studio to teach us about the "states of matter". His experiment with a balloon demonstrated Boyle's Law, actually turning his breath from a gas into a liquid! For the big finish, Kathy vanished into a huge cloud of "smoke" - okay, water vapor - as Steve created a great special effect by pouring the liquid nitrogen into a tub of hot water. Yes, both of our fearless scientists were wearing safety glasses and gloves.

A special liquid nitrogen demonstration kit is available to teachers in the Denver metro area by calling the National Institute of Standards and Technology C.A.R.E. program in Boulder at (303) 497-3244.-
