Our slime recipe is based on the classic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) formula with sodium tetraborate as the cross-linking agent. But… what makes our slime formulation unlike anything else on the market is the addition of our stabilizing agents that help to reduce the growth of bacteria while preserving the stretchy, stringy, gooey properties of slime that everyone loves. Scientists call substances like slime a Non-Newtonian fluid, which behaves like both a solid and a liquid at the same time. When you apply pressure, it turns into a solid (so to speak) and breaks apart. You are breaking the polymer chains apart. When you let slime flow like a liquid, it stretches with no problem as the polymer chains are allowed to uncoil. Making slime is a great way to introduce the concepts of changes in states of matter (from a liquid to a solid), demonstrate the process of cross-linking long chains of molecules, and to explore the science of polymers.

If you like slime (and we LOVE slime at SSS) this is the kit for you. You get a gallon of clear slime along with cross linker and 2 pumps for easy slime creation. It also has a multitude of mix-ins and colors for unlimited combinations. As long as it is stored properly, you should be able to store it for one year. Both solutions may settle, so you will just need to be sure to shake it really well before you use it again.
