A simple mixture of our Flat Fizzers and water results in an explosive, rocketing film canister that would make NASA jealous. What Does It Teach?
When you have gas building-up in an enclosed space, what happens? Wait… don’t answer that. More specifically, what happens when CO2 builds up in a closed film canister? Simple – an explosion so fun you won’t want the popping to stop. The key to the fun is our Flat Fizzers. These tablets are made of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and citric acid. These non-toxic components dissolve and mix in water, creating carbon dioxide. The gas is too much to contain in the closed canister and it builds until:

If you want to do the Alka seltzer rockets, you simply have to get these canisters. I have tried collecting my own canisters, but they simply dont work as consistently as the ones from Steve Spangler. These canisters produce the satisfying pop everytime!

reasonably priced items that offer a great experiment experience for the kids learning basic physics, and maybe a tad of chemistry. these canisters used to be common, but that are rather difficult to find anymore, just like the camera stores that used to give them away…thanks for stocking these!
