Have you ever seen a plant that giggles when you tickle it? Well, neither have we, but we did find the next best thing. The Tickle Me Plant bashfully closes its leaves when you tickle them. Just plant the seed and in just a week or so, you’ll have an amazing Tickle Me Plant that reacts to your touch. Available in a single plant, a six-pack greenhouse or a classroom kit for 30 students. You won’t believe your eyes when you experiment with the scientific wonder of the Tickle Me Plant. Recommended for children ages 4 and up.

What does it teach?

The Tickle Me Plant is a great addition to any Life Science unit and is a great change from ordinary plants. The exotic Mimosa Pudica plant is native to tropical regions and one of few plants considered a "tropism" (a fancy word that means it reacts when you touch it).

We just planted ours and the kids come in everyday and go straight to look at the plant to see if it has grown yet. We are all very excited to see what it does when you tickle it :)

Sounded like fun, but we didn't have success with it

As with the other reviewers, my students were very disappointed with the lack of results with this one. We waited patiently and followed directions for about 3 weeks when my students completely lost interest in it. To date this is the only Steve Spangler Science project that I have not been able to have success with. Won't buy this one again, but will certainly be buying the other amazing projects and materials offered on this website!

my grandson and I ordered 3 kits to be used for a science fair project on circadium rhythms of plants. Unfortunately only 3 of the 12 pots had seeds that grew. One pot had 2 plants and 3 other pots had 1 each. This is a real problem for my grandson as he has no time to changer his project. We are very disappointed in this project.

My three children have enjoyed watching the seeds grow in the green house. They each planted 3-4 seeds per pot. My son is a bit disappointed since his seeds have not yet sprouted. We have a total of five plants and look forward to tickling their leaves when they grow more.

Fun product

I have grown this kind of plant in the past and my students have really enjoyed interacting with it. I was disappointed in my last purchase, however. After following the directions carefully, only 3 of the 12 of the seeds I planted ever sprouted. I don't think that these results are typical, so I would still recommend this product to others.

A big disappointment

Out of all of our purchases, this one was the only one that dissappointed. Two of the seeds (of the whole pack) sprouted, and then died within a couple of days. This was after following the instructions carefully.

Anne,
I am extremely sorry to hear that the TickleMe Plants did not sprout as expected.  One of our customer service reps will be gin touch with you shortly to help solve the problem.

Caution should be used if this plant is planted where it can reproduce. Here in Hawaii, it is a major pest!! We call it Sleeping Grass because it closes up at night and goes "to sleep". Watch out for the thorns.

Delivery was fast. Seeds sprouted in three days. A week later kids were running into my classroom to Tickle the plant to watch the leaves fold up. No plant excites my students about life science more then the Tickle Me Plant.
