UV index is measured on a 0-15 scale. 0-2 is the low UV category (wear sunglasses). 3-7 is the moderate to high UV category (wear sunscreen and sunglasses). 8-10 is the very high UV category (avoid being in the sun for long periods of time and wear sunglasses and sunscreen). 11+ is the extreme UV category (you should avoid unnecessary trips outdoors because your skin can burn in minutes).
