The best slime on the market just got better! You won’t believe how irresistible our slime is now, with a special florescence ingredient added to create an eerie glow. In normal light, our Atomic Slime seems to glow as it is squished and stretched… put the gooey concoction under a black light and it positively shines! Just mix the cross-linker solution with our specially dyed PVA, turn off the lights and break out the black light. Watch in wonderment as this your students clamor to be the first to touch this eerie, oozing slime. This is the perfect slime for Halloween, but is sure to amaze and excite any time of year. Recommended for children ages 6 and up. (Makes enough for sixteen 2-oz. Portions.) You can purchase more Mini Black Lights on our site, or large sized black lights at your local party store.

What does it teach?

Slime is a great way to introduce your class to the chemistry behind cross-linking solutions. The long-linking chains of molecules in the PVA are called polymers; the cross-linker solution acts as a cross-linking agent for these polymers and helps the chains connect. Slime solution is also a great illustration of what scientists call a “Non-Newtonian Fluid”… when you apply pressure it forms a sort of solid and breaks. When you let it flow like a liquid it easily stretches. All of these science secrets are made even better with the addition of our special coloring agent that fluoresces under black light. When the energy from the black light “excites” the fluorescent dye, you end up with a brightly glowing, very exciting, ooey, gooey experiment! (For the full glowing effect, you will need to purchase a large black light, widely available during Halloween time.)
