Sometimes you just need a supply of nutrient agar and now you have the source. Agar is pronounced "awger". It sounds like "blogger" without the "bl". Nutrient agar is a vegetable gelatin made from various kinds of algae or seaweed. In simplest terms, the algae are collected, bleached and dried. Then the gelatin substance is extracted with water and turned into the powder you see in the kit. Special nutrients have been added to this agar to help promote the growth of bacteria. In a recent survey, 4 out of 5 bacteria preferred our nutrient agar over leftovers in your refrigerator. Comes with enough agar to fill 60 Petri dishes, and instructions.
