Air Pressure Mat
Item #: WATM-100
In Stock

One of the best air pressure demos we've ever seen! Place the rubber mat on a flat surface and ask a volunteer to lift the mat by the handle. It's like the mat is glued to the table! Of course, you have no problems lifting the mat. It's atmospheric pressure in action. Use the Air Pressure Mat to lift a stool or a small table. A great way to show that suction cups stay stuck because of the pushing force of air, not from a pulling "suction" force. Mat measures 10.5" x 10.5".

What's included?

Mat measures 10.5" x 10.5". You're buying the amazing Air Pressure Mat... not the stool! The activity guide is included.

How does it work?

Place the mat down on a smooth, flat surface. Reach down and pick it up by its edge. No big deal! Okay, let's do it again, but this time you have to lift the mat by only holding onto the hook. Hey, it's not so easy, is it? In fact, it's down right impossible! Let's rule out the obvious no one glued the mat to the table nor did someone secretly pound nails into the rubber mat. Whenever you want to pick up the mat, just lift it by the corner or the edge. The mat is held down by atmospheric pressure, which is approximately 15 pounds per square inch. A quick calculation leads to a total of 1,620 pounds of pressure pushing down on the mat!
