The #1 used test tube for kids! These clear, unbreakable test tubes are used for safe science experiments in classrooms everywhere. Unlike ordinary glass test tubes, these thick-walled plastic tubes can be thrown in the dishwasher, dropped, tapped, or stepped on and they just won't break!

Steve Spangler coined the name Baby Soda Bottle when he first introduced them to educators everywhere as the world's greatest test tube for kids. Steve popularized the use of these special tubes as test tubes during his 1999 lecture tour and for more than a dozen toys he created for some of the biggest toy stores in the country. Read more about the Baby Soda Bottle secret below.

Great for encouraging kids to explore and create results on their own. Each set includes an activity guide with lots of fun ideas to get kids started on their new science adventure.

Measures 5.75" tall, 1" in diameter and holds approximately 2 ounces (60 mL) of liquid.

What's included?

Test tubes with twist-on caps and an activity guide.

How does it work?

Why are they also called Baby Soda Bottles? Over the years, Steve Spangler popularized the name Baby Soda Bottle (BSB) for this test tube looking container because its home is actually in the bottling industry. At the bottling plant, the tubes are placed into a vacuum mold and heated so they soften. Hot air is then blown into the tube, stretching the warmed plastic to 40 times its original size to become a 2-liter soda bottle. When the plastic cools into the shape of the mold, the bottle is ready to fill with your favorite refreshing drink. So, you can see why it’s referred to as a Baby Soda Bottle.

What does it teach?

Baby Soda Bottles can be used to teach kids more things than you can imagine! Grow plants, observe critters, collect water samples, explore different densities, hydrate polymer crystals, and mix all the colors you can find in a rainbow. Kids are only limited by their own creativity—put one of these test tubes in their hands and they’ll be sure to discover something new!
