How does it work?

Take one of the glow sticks, snap it along the length of the stick, and shake it up. It's just that easy.

What does it teach?

Glow sticks are actually a fun lesson in chemistry. When you snap the glow stick along its length, you are combining two liquids that glow when they are mixed. This chemical reaction creates what is called chemiluminescence or glowing chemicals. The chemiluminescent substances in your glow stick will glow on its own for up to 8 hours, depending on the temperature of the environment around them. The warmer the environment the Glow Sticks are being used in, the shorter their glow duration.
