A very convincing demonstration that makes a person appear to be flying can easily be performed with a large plane mirror. Because of the way that mirrors form images a number of very interesting optical illusions can be performed. This looks so good you'll think you're flying!

First mount the mirror vertically, and then straddle the mirror with one foot in front of the mirror and one in back. By standing on your foot on the back side of the mirror and lifting the foot in front of the mirror, both legs will appear to leave the ground. Thus, it will look like you are flying to people observing your leg and its image from in front of the mirror.
