Spangler Inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame – Council of Peers Award of Excellence CPAE

Spangler CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame Award

If you’re a professional speaker, being inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame® is kind of like getting an Academy Award… without the cool golden Oscar… but you get the idea. The National Speakers Association (NSA), the leading organization for professional speakers, inducted five professional speakers into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame at the 2010 NSA Convention in Orlando, Florida, and I’m honored to have received one of the awards. To date, there are 196 Speaker Hall of Fame inductees throughout the world, and the list includes Ken Blanchard, Norman Vincent Peale, Ronald Reagan, and Zig Ziglar.

Established in 1977, the Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) is a lifetime award for speaking excellence and professionalism given to speakers who have been evaluated by their peers and judged to have mastered seven categories: material, style, experience, delivery, image, professionalism and communication. The award is not based on celebrity status, number of speeches, amount of income or involvement in NSA. It’s an award presented by your peers… and that’s why it’s so special to me. As you can tell from the photos, I can’t wipe that silly smile off my face!

The 2010 inductees are… Mary LoVerde, CSP, CPAE, Charlie Plumb, CPAE, The Passing Zone (Owen Morse & Jon Wee), CSP, CPAE, and Bill Cates, CSP, CPAE, and Steve Spangler, CSP, CPAE

What does CSP mean?

The Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation, conferred by the National Speakers Association and the International Federation for Professional Speakers, is the speaking profession’s international measure of professional platform skill. I earned my CSP designation in 2005.

The CSP designation is earned through demonstrating competence in a combination of standards: Professional platform skills, professional business management, professional education, and professional association.

Speakers must be members of NSA or another GSF organization for at least three years and complete a rigorous application process to earn the CSP designation. For more information, visit NSAspeaker.org.
